In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, your story guides the specific strategies, tools and techniques that are used. Apparent discrepancies between how you appear to be feeling and how you think you are feeling are noted, then either brought up in the moment or saved for a better time. Based on your knowledge and experience with therapy, established tools are often the first course of treatment. If those aren’t sufficient, or you’ve already tried them, I use insight therapy to analyze the root causes of your mental health concerns. To do the best work possible, you are encouraged to provide feedback regularly to ensure that your needs and expectations are being met.

I use a mixture of approaches, including: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Techniques, Rogerian Relationship Building Techniques, and Psychodynamic Theory. I have been working in mental health since 2008 and licensed as a psychologist since 2018.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing squash, gamemastering dungeons and dragons, travelling internationally, cheering on Nottingham Forest Football Club, and spending time with my wife (and business partner Davita Ponak) and dog Oliver.
